My prop submission for Haunt Nation Magazine's "Hack a Christmas Prop" contest.
This is the first prop I have ever built from scratch. It was a complicated first build because it incorporated animatonics (motors), LEDs, and internal audio.
Additionally many of the techniques used to build the prop were new to me including cutting and building foam props, heat carving foam, using Drylock and mache techniques for weather resistance and sculpting, dry brushing and working with multiple types of build materials.
I wanted to video my build for anyone else that is interested in doing a prop like this so they can see how mine was put together.
This build would not have been possible without the wealth of knowledge shared by the haunter community. If you are new to prop building or haunting I recommend checking out some of the following resources to get you started on the right foot:
Terra's Lair & ScaryLady Videos:
Allen Hopps at Stiltbeast Studios:
Chris and Jeff Davis of the the Davis Graveyard:
https://www.youtube.com/user/davisgraveyard (a lot of great info from the Davis's can be found on the various Podcasts they have been guests on.)
HaunTopic & Hauncast Radio (Podcasts):
Gourmet Paper Mache:
There are a ton of additional great prop building resources out there in the haunter community, but these are the ones that had a direct impact on this project and the techniques used in building my prop.
Thanks for watching!
