HALLOWEEN: The Happy Haunting of America DVD
Posted On 11/02/2007 08:14:43

So as October has finished and all the candy is gone, haunts are shutting off the lights and latex masks smell of sweat, there is one way to keep you in the haunting mood all year...HALLOWEEN: The Happy Haunting of America.

Do you want an insightful look into the industry we all love, or maybe a trip down memory lane, either way, Chuck, Bob and Daniel make it happen. From the stylistic opening from Shock Theater to the segway on Universal's City Walk we are whisked away into a world of fantasy for hours on end. Here you can get an inside look to the orgins of Halloween from experts in the field like Rochel Sanfolippo and even the icons that slay us like Robert Englund, Doug Bradley, Alice Cooper and others. They share the memories that make Halloween a day that as enticed us since its very beginning and throughout the journey the directing and cinematography does something else, it captures the true innocence of Halloween and Haunted Attractions while making us step back in our own minds to recall the same memories Alice, Robert and others have.

Now this is just one part that makes this Shock-U-Mentary appealing. It explores the history of the classic masterpieces from Don Post and even captures the best archival footage from the 70s on up from Bob Burns very own Home Haunts and Effects. You are scared as you encounter top Haunted Attractions throughout the United States and all the while staying glued to the DVD. This DVD does something rarely able to be done being that it captures the Industry in a way rarely seen by customers, halloween enthusiasts or skeptics on the idea of haunted houses and halloween.

HALLOWEEN: The Happy Haunting of America takes it to new heights with the second disc of material. Once you enjoy the first disc you are then treated to some of the most dark enjoyable moments of the current day in the industry with photo montages from top events, music videos, behind the scenes in the filming of the Shock-U-Mentary, and hours of features to many to list. And lets not forget the Collector's Edition Booklet that comes inside the DVD clam shell case. Here you are able to read about industry publications, artists, vendors and more exposing you to some of the top names found within the haunt industry. Chuck Williams has pulled out all the stops in this Anniversary Release of HALLOWEEN: The Happy Haunting of America.

From the time I started the dvd, I repeated it several times, shared it with friends, family and had it playing on a projector for Trick or Treaters and no matter where it was shown, it was a show stopper. To bring back fond memories, give an insider look, and show the industry in a way that many stations in their TV specials can never capture, add HALLOWEEN: The Happy Haunting of America to your collection and halloween tradition of watching every year.

Rotting Flesh Radio: The Haunt Industry's Podcast was blown away from this dvd and we are sure you will enjoy it as well. We felt a dark glow inside so much we invited Chuck to talk about it on our special Halloween Edition of Rotting Flesh Radio. If you missed it, give it a listen now at: R.F.R. HALLOWEEN EDITION Featuring CHUCK WILLIAMS and HALLOWEEN: The Happy Haunting of America.

Haunted Houses Continue to Scare This Weekend
Posted On 11/01/2007 07:15:12
The trick-or-treating may be over for 2007, but for many of America's leading haunted attractions, the Halloween season isn't over just yet. "Like Christmas, Halloween has grown from a holiday lasting a single day to a season long celebration," said IAHA President Timothy Gavinski. With many haunted attractions opening in mid-September and not closing until early November, the haunted attraction season now spans eight weeks.

Today, the Halloween season is second only to Christmas for consumer spending. "In the last decade, haunted attractions have matured from small neighborhood events, to large, regional destination attractions," said Gavinski. In the United States, Halloween has become a 7 billion dollar industry and about 15% of all Americans will attend at least one haunted attraction this fall.

While many people would guess that Halloween would be the busiest night for haunted house owners, according to Gavinski, that is not the case. "Because of the competition with trick-or-treating and parties, Halloween tends to be a quieter night. Traditionally......
