Ok, this comes straight from my work this week. We had a patient come in to the Dr. with pain in their abdomen. They had this pain for some time, but has been increasing and lately has become quite severe. Dr. did an ultrasound and found a large unidentifiable mass in the abdomen. They scheduled the patient for surgery to remove the mass. During surgery they found an unusual mass in the abdomen that had attached to the intestines in several places. As they cut the mass away they realized it was laprotic sponges (huge pieces of gauze used during surgery) that had been encased in tissue by the patients body. When the patient awoke they learned that the only surgery they had ever had on their abdomen was 14 years ago. This means those gauze pieces (about the size of a softball) were in the patient for 14 years. As they were covered in tissue (which your body does with any foreign object), they grew in size and began to cause pain. Once they attached to the intestines, the severe pain began. They brought the sponges and attached tissue down to the lab for culture and pathology-CREEPY!!!!!
Sick enough, I kinda like it when I am here for these types of things.
Our appraiser finally came and finished the appraisal on our new house. We have been building for almost a year and living with the parents in the meantime. I am so excited to be so close to living in my own freaking home again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We have been living in one house (not tiny, but certainly not huge) with me, hubby, 2 daughters, ma, pa, SK, two cats and a boxer for well over a year.......OMG, too many people in one space.
Should be starting to move in this weekend!!!!!!!!!! Will upload some pics when I get them. (Along with those long overdue photos of SK I promised when I signed up).
