Kris sat in his room thinking about how comfortable it was the breeze blowing through the window and the sun shining on the bed. He could hear his mother rattling dishes in the kitchen. It was as though he was 14 again. He heard a knock at the front door and a minute after his mother knocked on his. "Yea mom" he said. "Kris there someone to see you. Do you feel like company?" Kris wondered who could be here to see him. "Um OK" Kris said and moved towards the door. As the front door creaked open Kris saw a vaguely familiar face. It was Stu. "Hey how are ya?" Stu said "I heard you got out and thought I would come by and..." His voice trailed off. Chris had an idea why Stu had come by. He walked out onto the porch "I didn't think anyone would give a shit that I was out" Kris said. "Look man, I know that the shit we did do you in school was wrong and it has been something that was in the back of my mind ever since you got busted." Chris looked at Stu. He was wearing an old pair of jeans and a ratty t-shirt. "What you been up to?" Kris asked him, ignoring the apology. "I've been looking for work. My mom died of cancer bout a year after you went in and my dad couldn't handle it. He's in a crazy hospital up north droolin' on himself. Sorry, I meant to say mental institute." "Sokay" Kris replied. "Fact is, there is a lot of droolin' goes on there" They both chuckled slightly. "Hey you wanna go for a ride?" Stu asked. "Yea, ok. MOM! I'm goin for a ride so don't worry bout where I am." Like she would, Kris thought. There was no reply except the game show host on the TV.
They got into Stu's old Ford pickup and drove off as the sun began it's decent. The ride consisted of Stu talking about himself mostly, and it didn't surprise Kris at all. This guy has himself on his mind that's for sure Kris thought as they pulled onto the pier. They had the place all to themselves tonite, a rare thing.
"Yea, I got nobody now" Stu said "Man that's gotta be tough, sorry man." Kris could give a shit, he was sick of this pussy whining. Wonder what you would do if 6 or eight boys had their way with your ass, you would probably die from self-pity Kris kinda chuckled at the thought and when Stu looked up he acted as if a cough had gotten him."Man so you got no one huh?" Kris said in his best sympathetic voice. "Nope" Stu said.
They watched the sun setting as they sat on the rocks made from old sidewalks along the waters edge.Kris picked up one of the rocks and flung it into the water, a large plunk! "Well all the shit that you did to me in junior high... plunk! That used to bother me a lot...plunk! but now that I see you got no one...plunk!.. your all alone.....plunk! Well I don't really give a fuck! "Crack! The rock hit Stu smack in the middle of his face.Stu had just enough time to wonder what the hell was going on before he was smacked again."NO ONE TALKS TO ME LIKE THAT!" Kris was thinking back to the days of his bus rides to school"EVER!" A large hole was now forming in between Stu's eyes. Stu will be missing quite a beautiful sunset.Kris couldn't help but giggle a little.
He dragged Stu, what used to be Stu, back to the truck and threw him in the bed. There was a moving pad behind the seat that he used to cover the body.
On the way home Kris dumped good old Stu, wrapped in a moving pad, in a dumpster behind an Indian restaurant. No one will notice even if he does begin to stink Kris thought to himself.
Then he drove home humming a little to himself. 'First day out and I got me a set of wheels!"
he couldn't hold back "HA HA HA " and he laughed all the way home.....
